“And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high” – Luke 24:49

Power from on high simply means the anointing. The anointing is principally the manifestation of the power of God through the life and personality of a man. It is the grace of God given through the Holy Spirit for tangible impacts and results. The anointing on the life of the Christian will remain dormant or in a state of rest until it is activated.
The anointing of God is imparted at redemption but may become dormant if not activated regularly. So the anointing must always be fresh to be operational.

Many Christians today are walking in an anointing of the past. They are always talking about the good old days when they were powerful and very anointed. But that is not God’s plan for us. God’s desire is to anoint us with fresh oil.

Let us look at three ways to activate the anointing :

  1. Thirst for God
We activate the anointing by constantly thirsting for God. It is not possible to walk in daily power without a daily thirst and hunger for God.
    Psalm 42:1 (NKJV) says,
“As the deer pants for the water brooks, So pants my soul for You, O God”.

  2. Fast and pray
Regular fasting and prayers are needed to sustain the anointing on our lives.
Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit after waiting on God through prayer and fasting.
The Scripture tells us in Luke 4:14( NKJV ),
“Then Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit to Galilee, and news of Him went out through all the surrounding region.”

  3. Live a consecrated life
If you want the anointing to be fresh, you must depart from iniquity and embrace purity.  The Bible tells us in Ecclesiastes 9:8( NKJV),
“Let your garments always be white, And let your head lack no oil”.

Precious one, without fresh anointing we are bound to struggle in life and in ministry. But when the anointing becomes concentrated we will operate with ease.

    Prayer:
Heavenly Father, help me activate Your power in my life and grant me the grace to constantly keep it fresh in Jesus’ Name, Amen
